Abstract:?The aim of this study was to investigate the pollution status of heavy metals in fish from the Dongjiang River Basin. In 2021, major fish species (including Hemiculter, Pangasius, Mahi-mahi. Mozambique tilapia, Qi`s tilapia and Fine-scale channel catfish) were collected form 34 sampling sites across the entire Doingjiang River Basin. The main experimental method involved the removal of liver tissue from fish specimens, followed by microwave digestion, and subsequent measurement of heavy metal content (Zn, Cu, As, Cd, Mn, Cr and Ni) in fish tissues using high-performance liquid chromatography-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LC-ICP-MS). The dataset possesses several characteristics: (1) Monitoring sites are distributed throughout the entire section of the Dongjiang River, filling the gaps in the monitoring of heavy metal pollution in fish across the entire Doingjiang River section; (2) A wide variety of fish species were surveyed, with monitoring and analysis conducted on six major fish species in the surveyed river sections; (3) There are multiple monitoring parameters, with analysis conducted on the content of six heavy metal elements; (4) The dataset is rich in content, including the latitude and longitude of monitoring sites, species of surveyed fish, and concentrations of monitoring parameters. Utilization of this dataset can provide effective support for research on heavy metal pollution in fish in the Dongjiang River.
